Behrns APN/CNP of Dieterich, Illinois has been named the 2004
Rural Health Practitioner of the Year by the Illinois Rural health
Association at its annual conference April 14, 2005. Dot is an
FNP who has worked at the Dieterich Community Medical Center the
past eight years. She has been instrumental in organizing special
clinics for students and meeting the health care needs of the
elderly in her community. In addition she serves as president
of the Effingham County Board of Health. Congratulations Dot!

Gail Vankanegan receives "Nurse of the Year" Award
I received the Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing Alumni "Nurse
of the Year" Award in May 2004, for my contributions to nursing
throughout the years, publishing a book for patients, legislative
activities, professional organization involvement, contributions
of nursing for the communities, leadership in nursing and fostering
others in nursing were a number of reasons I was honored with
this award. I graduated from Blessing Hospital School of Nursing
in 1982 with a diploma in nursing, 1993 with a BSN from the Blessing
- Rieman College of Nursing, and in 1996 MSN from Univ Missouri
in Columbia, certified as a FNP in 1996. I practice in Quincy
Illinois at Quincy Medical Group.
